Today we are announcing a $48M Series B led by Harbourline Ventures, with Northgate Capital and Fieldwork participating. I want to use this post to say plainly where Nest is, what the money will be spent on and what will not change.
Where we are
When Theo and I started Nest, the idea was simple. Most software that people need is not exotic. It is a booking flow, a dashboard, a membership site, a tool that replaces a spreadsheet. It should be possible to describe that software in plain language and get a real, working app back, one you can run, change and own.
Two years in, the numbers tell us that idea holds up:
1.2 million apps have been built on Nest.
Teams at more than 40,000 companies use it, from solo founders to operations groups at large organizations.
The median time from first prompt to a live app is 14 minutes.
That last number matters most to us. It means people are not just trying Nest. They are shipping something real, on their own .nest.app address or a custom domain, often in a single sitting.
We are also proud of what the apps are. Many are small, and that is the point. A clinic rota used by 120 people every day. A scheduler that found its first paying customers nine days after its founder’s first prompt. You can read some of those stories on our customers page.
What the money is for
We are not raising to do something different. We are raising to do the same thing much better. The funding goes to four places.
Agent reliability
Two weeks from now we will ship Agent mode, which plans a change, builds it, tests it in a real browser and fixes errors before handing back. Making that loop dependable on large, real projects is the hardest work we have, and the biggest share of this round goes to it: more evaluation, faster sandboxes and better ways for the agent to know when to stop and ask.
Team features
More and more Nest projects have several people working on them. We will invest in shared workspaces, roles and review, and in making two-way GitHub sync feel natural for teams where some people prompt and some people write code by hand.
An EU data region
Customers in Europe have asked us, clearly and often, to keep their data in Europe. Next year we will open an EU region for databases, file storage and sandboxes, so a team can choose where its apps live.
People
We are hiring across engineering, design and support, and growing our offices in Lisbon, London and New York. Our team is small for the number of people we serve, and we want support in particular to stay fast and human as we grow.
What stays the same
A funding round is a good moment to restate a few commitments, because they are the ones that should not move.
Your code is yours. Every Nest app is TypeScript with a Postgres database. You can export it at any time and run it anywhere.
Your prompts and code are never used to train models. Not ours, not anyone else’s.
Pricing stays simple. We will add plans for larger teams, but the plans on our pricing page today are not going away.
Thank you
To Harbourline, Northgate and Fieldwork, thank you for backing a team that would rather ship than talk about shipping. To everyone who has built on Nest, filed a bug, answered a question in the community or told a friend, this round is really yours. We read every piece of feedback, and much of what we are about to build came from it.
If you want to help build what comes next, we would love to hear from you. And if you have an idea you have been putting off, there has never been a better time to open Nest and describe it.
